Largo Flying Club General Meeting 
Minutes of September 6, 2022

Meeting called to order at 7 pm by President Wojciechowski.  There were 26 members present.

Motion to defer reading of the May 3, 2022 minutes by Larry Tittle, seconded by Richard Birchmire. Motion carried. Motion to defer reading of the January 8, 2022 minutes by Larry Tittle, seconded by Richard Birchmire. Motion carried.

Reports from officers:

  • Vice President Ray Crumrine reported there will be a fun fly this Saturday, weather permitting, starting at 10 am. Events will be limbo, musical planes, and bowling, to be followed by combat. There will be pizza.
  • Secretary Mary Tittle reported the facilities agreement with the City of Largo was received.
  • Safety Officer Art Brown was not present. One member was suspended for landing in the parking lot.
  • Field Maintenance officer Matt Lombardi was not present.
  • Chief Flight Instructor Matt Ahlersmeyer had wings and a certificate for Caden Barnaky for achieving solo flight. There are currently 5 students. Anyone interested in instructing should            contact him.
  • Webmaster Mark Spencer was not present.

New Business:

  • New Members/Guests: Tim Tyler, Linda Tyler, Maria Barnaky, Bob Barnaky, Pam Barnaky, Bryce Barnaky
  • Nominations – Eddy Thomas was appointed Chairperson for Nominations by President Wojciechowski.

Field purchase by Porter Development – Discussion about the purchase of the land the club uses.

President Wojciechowski has been in contact with a group from the housing projects around the field. Discussed possible ways to assist their work in getting Largo residents to vote no to stop the project, now named Mid-Pinellas Sports Complex. Motion to allocate $500.00 to the group by Ron Cheshire, seconded by David Barth. Motion carried. Motion to link the club’s facebook page to the website for the group by Ed Cox, seconded by Ken Mavica. Motion carried. Bruce Smith will investigate the cost of purchasing an ad in the paper. There will be a meeting September 26 at 6pm and the Largo Cultural Center. Porter Development will be there with a presentation and the opportunity to ask questions.

Show and Tell – Charlie Lambour had several old internal combustion engines.

Motion to adjourn at 8pm by Richard Birchmire, seconded by Eddy Thomas. Motion carried.
